And the journey continues!

January 27, 2015

Dear supporters--thank you again for your generous contribution to The Epic Project!

Last night was our first rehearsal--and boy was it Epic! Everyone in the room was reminded of how very special this project is. Designers and actors exchanged ideas, musicians talked of how they intersect with images and emotion, we played on poles and ladders, we saw dream-makers, and heart-snatchers and crones, we played...and we played some more. We looked to the "great reminder" Peter Brook as we entered largely unknown territory:

In everyday life, "if" is a fiction, in the theatre "if" is an experiment.

In everyday life, "if" is an evasion, in the theatre "if is the truth.

When we are persuaded to believe in this truth,

then the theatre and life are one.

This is a high aim.

It sounds like hard work.

To play needs much work.

But when we experience the work as play, then it is not work any more.

A play is play.

We are so grateful for the support that we have so far, but we have a ways to go. If you can, please spread the word to your friends, colleagues--anyone who might support this exciting, collaborative experience.

Playfully yours,

Stephanie and the Epic team

A play is play!

Dear Supporters--it has been an incredibly rich two weeks! With every rehearsal we learn more about archetypes, storytelling and ensemble collaboration. With each new element of the set design, we find more of a playground on which to create--from the ladders and pole, to the rectangular frame and tonight, for the first time, silhouettes! Although there are still many questions about the journey our heroes are taking, each day brings more and more clarity to the reason WHY we create, and why we create together. The skill levels both musically and theatrically are growing exponentially, and we are so excited to share this journey with you. Thank you again for your contribution, and please spread the word!

Thank you for your support!
